An Efficient and Footprint-Free Protocol for the Transdifferentiation of Hepatocytes Into Insulin-Producing Cells With IVT mRNAs

ConclusionsOur study established a novel footprint-free protocol for efficient transdifferentiation of hepatocytes into IPCs using IVT mRNAs of TGIF2 and 3 pTFs, which paved the way toward a clinical application.

Authors: Zhu L, Chandran SR, Tan WB, Xin X, Goh SY, Gardner DSL Abstract BACKGROUND: There is little longitudinal information on psychological burden and metabolic outcomes in young adults with diabetes (YAD) in Asia. We aimed to evaluate the association between psychological status and glycemia at baseline and 2 years following transition in a cohort of YAD in Singapore. METHODS: Subjects with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), aged 17 to 25 years, were recruited from the YAD clinic in Singapore General Hospital. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression and Problem Areas for Diabet...

This study aims to investigate if the synergistically protective effect on damaged pancreatic tissues can be observed in STZ-induced DM rats with autologous transplantation of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC) coupling with oral administration of resveratrol. Pathological conditions can be recognized in DM rats with pancreatic damage, including reduction of islet size, suppression of survival markers, downregulation of AMPK/Sirt1 axis, and activation of apoptotic signaling. Autologous transplantation of ADSC slightly improves pancreatic functions, whereas autologous transplantation of ADSC coupling with oral administration...

ConclusionAs a result of the study, it was found that self-efficacy and quality of life of adolescents with type 1 diabetes have an effect on emotional eating, while A1C values of adolescents have no effect on emotional eating. In future studies, it is recommended to add other factors that may affect the emotional eating behaviors of adolescents with diabetes and also to make different studies with a higher number of samples.

Authors: Fuchs J, Hovorka R Abstract INTRODUCTION: Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong disease with high management burden. The majority of people with type 1 diabetes fail to achieve glycaemic targets. Algorithm-driven automated insulin delivery (closed-loop) systems aim to address these challenges. This review provides an overview of commercial and emerging closed-loop systems. AREAS COVERED: We review safety and efficacy of commercial and emerging hybrid closed-loop systems. A literature search was conducted and clinical trials using day-and-night closed-loop systems during free-living conditions were used to repo...
