Successful liver transplant from a hemophilia A donor with no development of hemophilia A in recipient.

Purpose of review Retinal detachment initiates a series of events that lead to degenerative changes in retinal synaptic architecture as well as the well-known phenomena of gliosis and photoreceptor apoptosis. Retinal reattachment does not always result in complete visual recovery, even if the fovea is not directly involved in the detachment. Rho-kinase (ROCK) inhibitors may mitigate some of these deleterious changes including disruption of synaptic architecture, photoreceptor apoptosis, and initiation of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition that characterizes proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR). This review focuses on...

Atherosclerosis is a major risk factor for developing acute coronary syndrome . In addition to lipid accumulation in the arterial wall, inflammation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of plaque rupture and activating the thrombosis cascade . The Mast cells contribution to plaque destabilization has been well established in multiple animal and human studies . In a recent study, SM has been ...

Patients with gastroduodenal ulcer and patients with bleeding were classified into 3 groups: LDA, non-aspirin NSAIDs, and those taking neither aspirin nor NSAIDs. Chronological changes...
AbstractThrombocytopenia is a common complication of critical care patients. The rates of bleeding events and mortality are also significantly increased in critical care patients with thrombocytopenia. Therefore, the Critical Care Medicine Committee of Chinese People ’s Liberation Army (PLA) worked with Chinese Society of Laboratory Medicine, Chinese Medical Association to develop this consensus to provide guidance for clinical practice. The consensus includes five sections and 27 items: the definition of thrombocytopenia, etiology and pathophysiology, diagnos is and differential diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
CONCLUSION: The rule-based HLA genotype extraction method shows reliable accuracy. We believe that there are significant number of patients who takes profit when this under-used genetic information will be return to them. PMID: 32233158 [PubMed - in process]
Performing endoscopy during the first six hours after a patient with gastrointestinal bleeding is handed off to a specialist does not lower the 30-day mortality rate compared to procedures done six to 24 hours after consultation, according to a new study of 516 volunteers reported in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine.Reuters Health Information
