This study was conducted between January 1, 2019, and July 25, 2019, at the neurology and biochemistry clinics of two different tertiary hospitals simultaneously. Overall, 50 RRMS patients with migraine, 50 RRMS patients without migraine, and 50 healthy volunteers were included in the study. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that acute MOG-Ab ON shows florid intra-orbital and peri-optic inflammation, likely to involve meninges and nociceptive fibers around the optic nerve. This may explain the frequent and often severe frontal or orbital headache that precedes the visual deficit, sometimes misdiagnosed as migraine.

CONCLUSION: Natural compounds constitute relevant alternatives for the treatment of brain diseases but often require loading into nanocarrier systems to reach the central nervous system in sufficient concentrations. Future challenges lie in a deeper characterization of their therapeutic mechanisms and in the development of effective, safe and brain-targeted delivery systems for their intranasal administration.
