Metoprolol versus Carvedilol in Patients with Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Diabetes Mellitus, and Renal Failure
This study aims to compare the survival and the risk of heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia, and renal failure hospitalizations in geriatric patients that were exposed to carvedilol or metoprolol. Danish administrative healthcare registers were used as data sources. Patients aged ≥ 65 and having heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and diabetes mellitus were followed for 1 year from the date of the first beta-blocker prescription redemption.
