OPCs on a Diet: A Youthful Serving of Remyelination.

OPCs on a Diet: A Youthful Serving of Remyelination. Cell Metab. 2019 Dec 03;30(6):1004-1006 Authors: White CW, Pratt K, Villeda SA Abstract Remyelination declines in the aging central nervous system due to oligodendrocyte precursor cell (OPC) dysfunction. In the latest issue of Cell Stem Cell, Neumann et al. (2019) demonstrate that aged OPCs are amenable to functional rejuvenation by systemic interventions involving alternate-day fasting or treatment with the fasting mimetic metformin.
