Echocardiography in patients evaluated for bronchoscopic lung volume reduction: is it useful and is there a CT-derived alternative?

Conclusion: The prevalence of PH with a RVSP >35 mmHg or CHF with an LVEF <45% is relatively low in this preselected cohort. In this population, PA:A ratio >1 is not a useful cardiac screening tool for PH. Perpendicular PA measurements may be helpful in preselecting patients for echocardiography, but needs to be evaluated in larger numbers of patients with PH.
