Improved postauricular surgical approach to the round window of rats

ConclusionThis study suggests that the post-auricular approach is a feasible and less time consuming route for round window drug delivery experiments in Wistar albino rats. Recognition of anatomical landmarks, particularly the facial nerve is the key to surgery.

ConclusionsIntraoperative events and 1-year postoperative complications were high for both Lichtenstein –Lichtenstein and Laparoscopy–Laparoscopy, and the results therefore support guidelines that recommend another approach at reoperation.

ConclusionThe bleeding risk when continuing long-term low-dose antiplatelet therapy following a single molar tooth extraction is minimal. Bleeding, if excessive, can be easily controlled by gauze pressure pack or other local haemostatic agents. Thus, dental extractions can be performed on these patients without interrupting the antiplatelet drug pre-operatively provided a thorough medical history, physician ’s consent and coagulation profile have been obtained prior to the procedure.

Abstract Pulmonary endarterectomy is a curative procedure for chronic thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension. As usual, cardiopulmonary bypass circuit is required. However, there are several complications attributed to extracorporeal circulation. Hemodilution, systemic inflammatory response syndrome and leukocyte sequestration are circulation related complications. The severe forms include Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Acute Lung Injury, myocardial stunning, dysfunction of the right ventricle, coagulopathy, postoperative stroke or renal dysfunction. In this case report, we aimed to give information about perioperativ...

ConclusionThe majority of anesthesiology providers were unaware of the existing literature demonstrating advantage in improved surgical visualization with TIVA. Many used a combination of inhaled and intravenous anesthetics for maintenance. These findings suggest that future opportunities may exist to develop education, training, and practice approaches specific to anesthetic techniques for ESS.

Authors: Ali I, Alahdal M, Xia H, S El Moughrabi A, Shiqian H, Yao S Abstract Background: Emergence agitation is a reformed state of mindfulness, which starts with a sudden form of anesthesia and progresses through the early repossession age. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate 1:3 ketofol performance on children 3-15 years old undergoing adenotonsillectomy. Methods: A total of 60 children aged 3-15 years undergoing adenotonsillectomy were randomly allocated to receive low-dose ketamine 0.15 mg/kg followed by propofol 0.45 mg/kg i.v. ketofol (1:3) about 10 min before the end of surgery in comparison to 60...

In this study, there were no cases of perioperative or postoperative mortality. However, in 23 (23.4%) of the 98 operations performed, at least one perioperative complication related to anesthesia occurred. The intraoperative and early postoperative complications following cleft lip and/or palate were assessed. There was a significant difference in the complication rate between procedure types (χ2=0.02; P0.05). Nonetheless, a significant difference was found between procedure types regarding perioperative complications and the occurrence of postoperative complications (χ2=0.031; P

CONCLUSION: Outflow reconstruction through the elbow bypass by cubital vein transposition is a valuable resource to rescue radiocephalic arteriovenous fistula complicated by outflow obstruction, avoiding the use of an interim central vein catheter. Endovascular treatment is vital to maintain functional patency in the mid- and long term. PMID: 31774035 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
