You know, a personal habit we’re trying to break or build upon. For me, it’s sleep. Always has been. Sleep might seem like a simple thing that we all just naturally do, but if you’ve ever struggled to get in a few solid hours of shut-eye (forget the full eight), then you know it can be a pretty heavy issue to deal with. Despite being a terrible sleeper since childhood, the situation got increasingly worse when I was a young adult because as a “creative,” to be successful, I thought I had to be up burning the midnight oil. I mean, that’s what you’re supposed to do when you’re a writer or an entrepreneur, right? Wrong. So, so wrong. In fact, my lack of sleep actually had the opposite effect on me. After years of running on pure coffee, I hit a wall. I was burnt out and my health was declining. This wasn’t just about feeling tired throughout the day anymore, my immune system was compromised and fighting off even the common cold was a massive undertaking for my body. Time for a change, I told myself. And change I did. I developed more of a routine and truly focused on getting adequate amounts of rest on a daily basis. But then I became a mother. Need I ...
