Background:Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is an important marker of cardiovascular (CV) risk and the risk of PAD is markedly increased in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Consequently, early diagnosis and treatment of PAD in patients with T2DM are critically important to reduce the risk of CV events. This study is aimed to assess the prevalence of NDRD and to determine predictor and prognostic factors of DN, NDRD. It was a retrospective analytic study including T2DM patients in whom renal biopsies were performed at our department from 1988 to 2014. Seventy-five patients were included. CONCLUSIONS: Prevalence of PVD is 30% in our study which is more than previous studies showing an increasing trend. NPU are two times more common than NIU. Hypertensive male patients with smoking habits and longer duration of T2DM are most prone to develop NIU.
