How thoracic surgeon manage tracheal tumors in African country? (Case series)

ConclusionPrimary tumors of the trachea remain of reserved prognosis with 5-year survival of 57% of all histological types combined. Computed tomodensitometry and tracheobronchial fibroscopy remain the means of reference exploration in the diagnosis and assessment of surgical resectability.

Three RCC cases bearing VCL-ALK gene fusion were all young African American patients and associated with sickle cell trait notably. In contrast to the 3 reported cases, this neoplasm occurred in a middle-age woman (57...

HOTTIP expression has been demonstrated to play a crucial oncogenic role in cancer pathogenesis, and is said to be associated with poor human cancer prognosis. In prostate cancer, HOTTIP has been identified as an oncogene, but its clinicopathologic significance remains unclear. A...

Boyan, Zvi SchwartzAbstractLaryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) has been shown to respond to 17β-estradiol. However, the presence and characterization of estrogen receptors (ER) and other sex hormone receptors in LSCC are still being determined. Sex hormone receptors and the way sex hormones impact LSCC tumors are important for understanding which patients would benefit from hormone therapies, such as anti-estrogen therapies. This information also has prognostic value, as there ...

This study aims to design and synthesize Endostatin (ENT)-loaded nanoparticles using Folic acid (FA) as a driver for targeted anti-proliferative chemotherapy in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC). An ionic gelation method was employed to formulate FA-decorated, ENT-loaded nanoparticles, which were tested in vitro on KYSE-30 cells using unbiased stereological approaches. FA-ENT nanoparticles were internalized into ESCC cells with preferential binging to the nucleus and mitochondria for necrotic and apoptotic effects. Nanoparticles showed increased proliferation inhibition of 64.71% and reduced KYSE-30 cell migration ...

ConclusionsSST or CXCR4 expression in PAC is clearly of no therapeutic relevance. However, indirect targeting of these tumours via SST3, SST5, or CXCR4 on tumour microvessels may represent a promising additional therapeutic strategy.
