Effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation as an add-on treatment for persistent auditory hallucinations in individuals with schizophrenia: A naturalistic single center study

Background: Auditory hallucination is a major symptom in schizophrenia often resistant to psycho-pharmacological treatments leading to distress and suicidal risks in patients. With decreasing popularity of Electro convulsive therapy (ECT), non-invasive techniques like transcranial Direct Current stimulation (tDCS) would offer more options to the treating psychiatrist and to the patient for the symptom management in schizophrenia.
