A systematic review on the definition of rhabdomyolysis

ConclusionAt present, we recommend a clinical syndrome of acute muscle weakness, myalgia, and muscle swelling combined with a CK cut-off value of>  1000 IU/L/ or CK >  5 × ULN for the standard definition of a mild RML. Additionally measured myoglobinuria and AKI indicate a severe type of RML. Exclusion criteria as well as the chronological sequence need to be considered for a conclusive RML definition.

ConclusionTemporary renal dysfunction can occur after RARP due to CK elevation. Thus, sufficient attention must be paid to renal insufficiency after elevation of CK values for several days after RARP. Because rhabdomyolysis after RARP was associated with both obesity and long console time, console time during RARP should be shortened, especially in patients with obesity.

Lipin-1 (LPIN1) is an 890 aminoacid intracellular protein involved in different pathways of fatty acid metabolism (1). It belongs to the family of phosphatidate phosphatase (PAP) enzymes and its main role is to catalyse the conversion of phosphatidate to diacylglycerol, the penultimate step of triglyceride synthesis which constitute the major energy storage in our body (2).

ConclusionUnfortunately, there is considerable inconsistency among the databases searched, such that a clinician ’s discretion and clinical experience remain invaluable tools for the management of patients with comorbidities present in psychiatric and cardiac disorders. The possibility of an interaction should be considered. With a multidisciplinary approach, particularly involving a pharmacist, the prescrib er should be alerted to the possibility of an interaction. MDD and AD pharmacologic treatment in cardiac patients could be implemented safely both by cardiologists and psychiatrists.Trial RegistrationPROSPERO Sys...

Over the past few decades, the incidence of Rhabdomyolysis (RM) has significantly increased. The prognosis is substantially worse if renal failure develops. Many problems remain to be addressed regarding the pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of RM. The purpose of this study was to identify and characterize the top 100 most cited publications regarding rhabdomyolysis (RM) by performing a bibliometric analysis.

In conclusion, the OATP1Bs are important in the hepatic uptake of endogenous chemicals, drugs, and toxicants. Because there are polymorphisms of OATP1B1, knowledge of the genotype/phenotype is of importance in diagnosing and treatment of patients. PMID: 32407928 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

COVID-19 is a global public health emergency with more than one million positive cases across the globe. COVID-19 has a multifaceted presentation. We are herein to report two cases of SARS-CoV-2 induced rhabdomyolysis with an initial presentation of weakness and elevated creatinine kinase (CK). Both patients had no respiratory symptoms, they only complained of generalized weakness and were found to have elevated CK. Routine chest X-ray showed bilateral infiltrates in both cases and subsequently reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for SARS-CoV-2 was positive.
