Cytokines/chemokines gene expression in the lungs of fibrous-cavernous TB patients.

Conclusions: In the present study, we demonstrated that cells in caverna wall expressed lower levels of neutrophil chemoattractants CXCL1/CXCL2 as compared with the cells in surrounding lung tissue. Thus M. tuberculosis inside the cavity was protected from neutrophilic influx. Our data emphasize the role of neutrophil-derived inflammation in post primary lung TB.This work was supported by the Russian Scientific Foundation (grant 16-15-10242).
