T-cell subsets in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from adults with a history of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD)
Conclusions: Adult with a history of BPD display an increased proportion of CD3+CD8+ T cells and a reduced CD4/CD8 ratio in the bronchoalveolar space, indicating resemblance to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This finding is compatible with the idea that CD3+CD8+ T cells play a pathogenic role in the development of chronic airway obstruction in adults with a history of BPD.
