Randomized Controlled Trial of Online Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic pain disorder of uncertain etiology characterized by widespread pain and numerous potential comorbidities including fatigue, disordered sleep, neurocognitive deficits, gastrointestinal distress, headache, anxiety, and depression.61 This symptomatology often presents in an unpredictable remitting/relapsing cycle that further detracts from patients' quality of life and results in significantly increased medical costs, health care utilization, and work-related disability.

GearyAbstractIn a preschool through first grade longitudinal study, we identified groups of children with persistently low mathematics achievement (n = 14) and children with low achievement in preschool but average achievement in first grade (n = 23). The preschool quantitative developments of these respective groups of children with mathematical learning disability (MLD) and recovered children and a group of typically achieving...

Conclusions: High screen time was the most prevalent lifestyle risk behavior independently associated with depressive symptoms. Multiple lifestyle changes and improvement of appearance satisfaction should be included in measures targeting adolescents for the prevention and treatment of depressive symptoms. Future studies should elaborate on the gender differences in other adolescent age groups. Appearance satisfaction should be acknowledged as an important confounder in future studies of lifestyle and depressive symptoms. PMID: 31419392 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In conclusion, it is recommended that in addition to direct microscopic examination, the use of additional methods such as culture and PCR will be useful in routine laboratory diagnosis of Blastocystis spp. The distribution of Blastocystis subtype in Aydin is mainly in accordance with the global findings. Lack of a relationship between Blastocystis spp. İnfection and symptoms in our study was supported the idea that Blastocystis spp. infection is mostly asymptomatic in humans and it may be a member of healthy microbiota. Conclusion: The results of our study may suggest the presence of FM as a clinical sign of a more severe migraine. However, the long-term prospective studies including these group of patients are needed to understand the prognostic impact and importance of the comorbid FM in migraine. Conclusion: These findings support the hypothesis that in FM a deteriorated function of cortical inhibition, indexed by a higher SICI parameter, a lower function of the DPMS, together with a higher level of BDNF indicate that FM has different pathological substrates from depression. They suggest that an up-regulation phenomenon of intracortical inhibitory networks associated with a disruption of the DPMS function occurs in FM. Introduction Major depressive disorder (MDD) and fibromyalgia (FM) present overlapped symptoms. Although the connection between these two disorders has not been elucidated yet, the disruption...

ConclusionsThis study outlined a relevant presence of symptoms of central sensitization among children with migraine. Severe allodynia and comorbidity for JFM seemed to cause a general decline of quality of life, which would suggest the opportunity of a routine assessment of these clinical features.

Growing up a musically-obsessed child in the 80's, Daryl Hall was one of my biggest inspirations. A masterful, inventive songwriter with an ocean of soul, he set me on the path to being an artist, to never waste a word, and to sing because I mean it. With six number ones and five additional top ten hits throughout the 70's and 80's Daryl Hall and John Oates are the number one duo in music history. Still at the top of his game at 69 years old, Daryl has won legions of new fans with his hit MTV Live show Live From Daryl's House. In February of 2015, at my very sickest from chronic Lyme and Bartonella, after it was missed b...

Abstract ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to create and validate severity levels for the central sensitization inventory (CSI), a valid and reliable patient‐reported outcome instrument designed to identify patients whose presenting symptoms may be related to a central sensitivity syndrome (CSS; eg, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome), with a proposed common etiology of central sensitization (CS). MethodsBased on CSI score means and standard deviations from previously published subject samples, the following CSI severity levels were established: subclinical = 0 to 29; mild = 30 to 39; mode...
