Intravenous Treprostinil Delivered by Implantable Pump for the Treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension - Report of First 11 Cases
Intravenous (IV) prostanoids are indicated for patients in advanced stages of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Complications associated with external pump-delivered continuous therapy include IV catheter-related bloodstream infections and subcutaneous infusion site pain. Recently, a surgical implantation of a gas driven, refillable pump for continuous IV administration of Treprostinil has been introduced to reduce complications and improve quality of life. However, data on long-term safety and efficacy has not been published to date.
