(Mary Ann Liebert, Inc./Genetic Engineering News) New studies in children and adolescents with major depressive disorder (MDD) reported negative outcomes, failing to support the effectiveness of desvenlafaxine (Pristiq, Pfizer) compared to placebo.
Goal: The goal of this study was to determine the relationship of reflux with gastroparesis (Gp), looking both at symptoms and objective testing. Background: Gp patients often experience gastroesophageal reflux symptoms. How the severity of reflux correlates with the severity of Gp is not known. They underwent 4-hour gastric emptying scintigraphy; and, if indicated, high-resolution esophageal manomet...
CONCLUSION: In coverage, the phenomenon of burnout seems more approachable than depression due to its work-relatedness, the figurative quality of the term, and numerous disclosures by affected celebrities. We discuss that the destigmatizing potential of the term burnout may come at the expense of people with severe depression, and people outside the working context. Additionally, lower recommendation of professional treatment for burnout may delay help-seeking. PMID: 32268419 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsThe presence of FA among T2DM patients implied a worse glycaemic control. Microvascular complications and depressive symptoms were higher among these patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Nearly half of the elderly individuals lacked a high QoL, and at least one-fourth had experienced some form of abuse. Elder abuse was correlated inversely with QoL. Therefore, preventive interventions are recommended to decrease elder abuse in the family, community, and other settings. PMID: 32268463 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusion: The HAS ranged from 5 to 14 in this cohort of older HIV adults with 39% attaining scores in the ‘healthy’ range. The HAS correlated with measures of physical performance and health utilization. Further validation of an objective outcome in HIV-positive patients will facilitate evaluation of interventional studies to improve healthy aging.
Conclusion: ART may reduce the risk of NCIs in HIV-infected patients in general. Further research to investigate NCIs on specific antiretroviral regimens and comorbidities may provide insights regarding the long-term clinical care of these patients.
