Mo1173 Two Distinct Characteristics of Superficial Esophagogastric Junction Cancers From the Viewpoint of Endoscopic Gastric Mucosal Atrophy
A Western study using serological tests for gastric mucosal atrophy and H. pylori status suggested two distinct etiologies of esophagogastric junction (EGJ) cancer i.e. H. pylori associated atrophic gastritis and non-atrophic gastric mucosa resembling esophageal adenocarcinoma (Gut 2007;56:918 –925). In this multicenter collaborative study, we investigated whether the same aspect (two distinct etiologies) exists in Japanese patients with superficial EGJ cancer.
