Urinary tract lymphoepithelial carcinoma. Report of two cases and bibliographic review.
CONCLUSIONS: We emphasize the clinical importance involved in the diagnosis of this entity. The diagnosis influence the aggressiveness of treatment and disease-specific survival. Therefore, concomitant transitional cell carcinoma defines the prognosis. The role of immunohistochemical staining is fundamental, allowing us to confirm the presence of the epithelial component. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of cervical cancer in Jordan is low compared to regional estimates and remained relatively constant between 2008 and 2013. Implementation of screening measures could lead to better case finding, early diagnosis, and prevention of cervical cancer. PMID: 28932241 [PubMed]
ConclusionsIntegrated medical and psychiatric care is needed to improve outcomes of cancer care among patients with SMI. PMID: 28935659 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
ZURICH (Reuters) - Roche immunotherapy Tecentriq has won European Union approval for treating advanced lung and bladder cancer, the Swiss drugmaker said.
Purple potatoes and other colorful fruits and vegetables could help to prevent colon cancer by reducing levels of a pro-inflammatory protein.
This study aimed to develop a method for eliciting and coding recall of medical information in non‐English‐speaking patients. DesignThis method, called Patient‐Interpreter‐Clinician coding (PICcode), was developed in the context of a phase II trial conducted in two outpatient oncology clinics in Melbourne, Australia, and was refined iteratively through consultation with an expert panel and piloting. Between‐coder differences in early versions of the coding system were resolved through discussion and consensus resulting in refinements to PICcode. ResultsThe final version of PICcode involved transcribing, translati...

In this study, we performed recursive partitioning analysis (RPA) to objectively combine the 15-ELN threshold and 8th AJCC stage to refine the staging for GC.MethodsWe analyzed 19,018 patients with non-metastatic GC from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. The dataset was randomly divided into training and validation sets.ResultsFor each 8th AJCC stage, survival was significantly better for patients with ≥15 ELNs versus those with
ConclusionNeoadjuvant therapy prior to gastric resection for gastric cancer is not associated with an increased risk of anastomotic leak or other additional short-term morbidity or mortality.
Conclusions: Application of metastatic prognostic scoring systems to a retrospective surgical cohort revealed an overall poor correlation with the Tomita and revised Tokuhashi predictive survival models. Morbidity and mortality rates concur with those in the medical literature. This study underscores the difficulty in utilizing metastatic spine scoring systems to predict patient survival. We believe a scoring system based on cancer type is needed to account for changes in treatment paradigms with improved patient survival over time.
Study Design: Prospective cohort study. Summary of Background Data: Minimally invasive spinal surgery (MISS) has been gaining recognition in patients with metastatic spine disease (MSD). The advantages are reduction in blood loss, hospital stay, and postoperative morbidity. Most of the studies were case series with very few comparing the outcomes of MISS to open approaches. Objective: To evaluate and compare the clinical and perioperative outcomes of MISS versus open approach in patients with symptomatic MSD, who underwent posterior spinal stabilization and/or decompression. Patients and Methods: Our study included 45 M...
