American Society of Hematology Physician Scientist Career Development Award The Society's Physician-Scientist Career Development Award is a new opportunity for medical students to gain experience in hematology research and to learn more about the specialty by immersing themselves in a yearlong laboratory, translational, or clinical investigation under the mentorship of an ASH member. The total amount of the award is $42,000. The award is comprised of $28,000 to support the trainee, a $5,500 research allowance for supplies, $5,500 for insurance and educational expenses (including one course), and $3,000 for meeting attendance. The award is for a one-year period, generally July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. Up to five awards will be granted per year. Awards will be paid directly to the participating institution of the mentor, not to the mentor or the recipient. Indirect costs (i.e., facilities and administration costs) are not allowed.
