Correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease: A retrospective study of 1067 patients

Background and aim: Several studies have shown that the risk of cardiovascular events is higher in subjects with ultrasound evidence of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis. The aim of our study was to evaluate the association of carotid atherosclerosis evaluated by Doppler ultrasound with the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with typical chest pain undergoing diagnostic coronary angiography during hospitalization.
