Briefing on Health Disparities and Centers for Population Health and Health Disparities Initiative

After completion of 10 years of funding, the Centers for Population and Health Disparities (CPHHD) — supported by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) — will convene to present their research findings. The CPHHD program was a response to a strategic priority at NIH to address health disparities and inequities in the prevalence and outcomes of several diseases, particularly cancer and heart disease. The CPHHD program requires transdisciplinary research involving social, behavioral, biological, and genetic research to improve knowledge of the causes of health disparities and devise effective methods of preventing, diagnosing, and treating disease and promoting health. This briefing will highlight the research conducted by CPHHD and other endeavors, which was published in this year ’ s August issue of the Health Affairs journal. The meeting will provide a forum to discuss future priorities in health disparities and equity research. For more information go tohttp://www.scgcorp.com/cphhd2016/Air date: 9/9/2016 9:00:00 AM
