Cardiovascular disease is the lead contributor to mortality differentials between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians. Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) rates in Aboriginal Australians are among the highest recorded globally and contribute to the increased risk of heart failure (HF), atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke in Aboriginal people.
