Evaluation Of Sex as A Biological Variable in A Preclinical Migraine Model
Chronic migraine is a prevalent disabling condition. Migraine pathophysiology is poorly understood although there may be interplay between neurogenic inflammation, sex hormones, and migraine-induced pain behaviors. We hypothesized that there is a sex-linked difference in migraine-like behaviors and proinflammatory cytokine expression. To test this hypothesis, we used male and female 8-week-old C57BL/6J mice that received intraperitoneal injections of either nitroglycerin (10mg/kg) or saline on five alternating days.
