Invasive Candidiasis Following Lung Transplant: An Assessment of Impact Utilizing a National Insurance Claims Cohort
Purpose: Lung transplant recipients are at increased risk for invasive fungal infections (IFI). Recent single-center studies suggest that invasive candidiasis (IC) may be an important cause of IFI. Although universal antifungal prophylaxis may seem like a good preventative measure for IC, its benefit remains unclear, and use carries significant risks of adverse effects, drug interactions, and increased cost.
