Reasons for Donor Heart Offer Refusal Often Contradict Objective Cardiac Diagnostic Findings: Results from the Donor Heart Study
Purpose: Most potential organ donors in the United States (US) are turned down for use in heart transplant (HT). We assessed the prevalence of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), low ejection fraction (EF), and coronary artery disease (CAD) as reasons for turndown and their consistency with objective diagnostic findings.
