Assessment of the Effect of Temperature on Hemocompatibility and Organ Stability During Prolonged Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion - A Proof of Concept Study

Purpose: Ex-Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) use is rapidly increasing due to its potential to improve donor lung utilization and organ quality, but the ideal conditions for prolonged out of body preservation are unclear. Using a blood-based perfusion model for 30 hours of swine lung preservation, we explored the effects of temperature on various hemocompatibility related-biomarkers and organ outcomes.
