Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Transplantation of Lungs From HCV-Infected Donors into HCV-Negative Recipients

Purpose: Transplanting organs from hepatitis c virus (HCV) infected donors into HCV-negative recipients has led to thousands of more transplants in the US since 2016. Studies have demonstrated disparities in utilization of kidneys from these donors along the lines of gender and education. It is still unknown, however, if the same disparities are seen in lung transplantation. The goal of this study was to determine if there were disparities present in the usage of HCV infected donor lungs related to recipient demographics.
