Association of serum albumin with heart failure mortality with NYHA class IV in Chinese patients: Insights from PhysioNet database (version 1.3)

Heart failure (HF), designated as a new epidemic since 1997, is a highly prevalent and progressive disease worldwide, and now is still a major clinical and public health problem.1-3 HF is a chronic clinical syndrome, characterized by dyspnea, fatigue, elevated natriuretic peptide, and impaired cardiac function.4,5 Data convincingly shows that the mortality rate of heart failure has begun to rise in the decade,6-8 and in particular, the burden of mortality and hospitalization of severe HF has not been reduced though the decline in incidence rate.
