Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a prevalent respiratory condition characterized by persistent respiratory symptoms and restricted airflow resulting from exposure to harmful particles and gases.1 Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are the two main characteristics of COPD due to abnormalities in the airways or alveoli.2 COPD is a major reason for hospital admission and has been a public health issue.3 Several studies have revealed that inflammation plays a pivotal role in the development of COPD.
