Describing differences among populations of thoracic tumors patients under and over 80 years: Data analysis from the SLCG thoracic tumor registry
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), lung cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide in both sexes (accounting for 11.4 % of all cancers) and the first in terms of mortality (18 % of cancer deaths). The top five causes of death in high-income countries are heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, pneumonia, and asthma/bronchitis. Due to its high mortality rate, lung cancer is considered a significant public health conc ern.
