CT coronary angiography: Is it the new standard in coronary assessment for liver transplant candidates?
Cardiovascular events continue to impact post-liver transplant survival [1]. Although the etiologies of these cardiac events are multifactorial, the presence of significant coronary artery disease can contribute to a patient's ability to tolerate the multifactorial stressors and physiological insults that occur throughout the transplantat process [2]. In addition, cardiovascular death is predominant in the post-liver transplant population, with sudden cardiac death contributing to 1 out of 3 post-transplant cardiac mortalities [3].
