Impact Of Intracardiac Thrombus Among Hospitalized Patients With Acute Decompensated Heart Failure: A United States National Cohort Study
Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among hospitalized patients. The presence of an intracardiac thrombus in ADHF adds to the complexity of an already challenging situation. Although previous data suggested that ADHF with concomitant intracardiac thrombus leads to a poor prognosis, there is paucity of data investigating the in-hospital outcomes of these subset of hospitalized patients on a national level. We aim to investigate the impact of intracardiac thrombus among hospitalized patients with ADHF in terms of in-hospital mortality, length of stay (LOS), risk for cardiogenic shock and stroke, as well as the use of mechanical ventilation by utilizing a national database.
