Cannabis Use Is Associated With Decreased Mortality And Length Of Stay In Heart Failure Hospitalizations

Recreational and medicinal cannabis use continues to increase in the United States. The long-term health effects of cannabis use on cardiovascular health are still unclear, and there are few high-quality studies in the literature. In particular, there is little evidence regarding the effects of continued cannabis use on the clinical course of patients already diagnosed with chronic cardiovascular conditions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of severe cannabis use on in-hospital mortality and length of stay (LOS) in a nationally representative cohort of patients hospitalized with a primary diagnosis of heart failure.
