A neurofibromatosis patient with a large appendix and multiple small intestine masses
A 53-year-old woman with a history of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) presented with hematemesis. Physical examination revealed multiple neurofibromas and caf é-au-lait spots on the skin. Laboratory tests results indicated moderate anemia. Contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography revealed multiple lesions with soft-tissue density in the wall of the small intestine, with significant enhancement after injection of contrast agent (Fig. 1A), and an e nlarged, fluid-filled appendix with wall thickening (Fig. 1B).
