RAGE in circulating immune cells is fundamental for hippocampal inflammation and cognitive decline in a mouse model of latent chronic inflammation

CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate that RAGE in inflammatory cells is necessary to mediate stimuli of latent chronic inflammation that cause brain inflammation and cognitive decline, potentially by orchestrating monocyte activation via regulation of PSGL-1 expression. Our results also suggest esRAGE-mediated inflammatory regulation as a potential therapeutic option for cognitive dysfunction in MetS with latent chronic inflammation.PMID:38142917 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbi.2023.12.022
