Impact of Operative Positioning on the occurrence of Postoperative Ipilateral Shoulder Pain After Lung Resection by Video-Assisted Thoracoscopy: A Randomized Trial

Any thoracic surgical procedure must respond to a paradox in the patient's positioning, favoring the best possible access for the surgeon while guaranteeing the comfort of the patient to ensure the least pain and complications related to the chosen position. Neurological complications from surgical and arm position as well as post-thoracotomy pain have been well documented and studied.1 In the current era of minimally invasive surgery, we strive for decreased post-operative pain, shorter length of stay and minimal opioid use.
