Dispensing of antineoplastic medications and their impact on the dispensing of anti-dementia drugs for adults aged ≥60 years: A cohort study

Dementia is a leading cause of disability and death. There is currently no cure for dementia, so identifying and managing modifiable risk factors is essential. A systematic review of 36 longitudinal studies found that the risk of dementia was 11  % lower among cancer survivors compared with non-cancer adults [1], and a recent longitudinal study of 31,080 older men reported that the diagnosis of dementia was 15 % less frequent among those who had survived cancer for at least two years [2]. Moreover, the diagnosis of cancer has been assoc iated with lower burden of Alzheimer's disease (AD) neuropathology [3].
