Coronary heart disease is the world's leading killer, responsible for 8.9 million deaths.1 Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) has become a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality annually and imposes a significant socioeconomic burden on patients, and the healthcare system.2 Due to changes in sociodemographic structure and acquisition of unhealthy lifestyles driven by the rapid economic development and urbanization in the past decades, morbidity and mortality of ACS continue to increase in China.
