A 63-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of COVID-19 pneumonia and was intubated a few days later because of respiratory failure. Soon afterward, he experienced profuse watery diarrhea. The result of stool analysis was negative for viral and bacterial pathogens, and Clostridium difficile and cytomegalovirus infections were ruled out. Therapy with loperamide was initiated; however, the symptoms persisted. The patient underwent colonoscopy 21 days after the start of the symptoms.
