Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: The Future Is Now
The epidemic of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) has compelled both of us since the start of our training. There are few greater unmet needs in medicine today. Millions of patients with HFpEF have quality of life on par with severe cancer or disabling rheumatoid arthritis and suffer frequent hospitalizations and shortened lifespan. Until recently, this large and growing problem appeared unsolvable, and even incremental improvements were difficult to achieve.
