Ocular features of NGLY1 deficiency from a prospective longitudinal cohort
NGLY1 deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive disorder with core features of global developmental delay, liver enzyme abnormalities, movement disorder, polyneuropathy, and hypo- or alacrima. We characterized the full spectrum and evolution of the ocular phenotype in a prospective natural history of NGLY1 deficiency. (Source: Journal of AAPOS)

Exposure to persistent hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus is associated with retinopathy of prematurity
Hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (hsPDA) shunt may predispose infants to retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) because of its higher preductal cardiac output and blood oxygen content, which may augment ocular oxygen delivery. (Source: Journal of AAPOS)

Modernizing the evaluation of infantile nystagmus: the role of handheld optical coherence tomography
Infantile nystagmus syndrome can be associated with an afferent problem (anterior or posterior segment) or constitute an isolated idiopathic disorder. With a normal ophthalmic examination, current guidelines recommend electroretinography (ERG) rather than magnetic resonance (MRI) for preliminary workup. Given the limited use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in preverbal children, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of handheld OCT (HH-OCT) in the initial diagnostic evaluation of infantile nystagmus. Long-term results of anterior chamber iris claw intraocular lens implantation in children with ectopia lentis in Marfan syndrome
To report the long-term clinical and endothelial cell count (ECC) results of lensectomy with primary anterior chamber iris claw lens implantation in the eyes of patients ≤18-year-old with ectopia lentis due to Marfan syndrome. (Source: Journal of AAPOS)

Macular and peripapillary vascular parameters in the fellow eyes of unilateral primary congenital glaucoma: a comparative study
To study the fellow eyes of patients with unilateral primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and compare them to normal age- and refractive error –matched healthy controls. (Source: Journal of AAPOS)

Ophthalmic features of Lamb-Shaffer syndrome: a case series
We present a case series of 6 pediatric patients with LSS and describe its ophthalmic manifestations. Strabismus was present in 5 patients, with exotropia being most common. All subjects had significant refractive errors; 5 had astigmatism of at least 2 D. All patients had optic nerve abnormalities, including pallor (4), hypoplasia (2), and anomalous appearance (1), with retinal nerve fiber layer thinning demonstrated in a single subject. Aberrant regeneration of accommodation in pediatric inferior division oculomotor palsy
Aberrant regeneration occurs in forms of oculomotor motor nerve palsy and frequently involves the pupil, but the incidence and functional impact of ciliary muscle involvement in pediatric patients is sparsely reported in the literature. A 4-year-old girl presented with inflammatory oculomotor motor nerve paresis affecting the inferior division. Initial treatment focused on her inability to accommodate through her physiologic +2.5 D hyperopia and the prevention and treatment of amblyopia. She subsequently developed aberrant regeneration of the pupil, with miosis on adduction. (Source: Journal of AAPOS)

Spontaneous collapse of an iris stromal cyst in a young child
A 4-month-old girl was referred for evaluation of an anterior chamber cyst in the left eye. Examination under anesthesia (EUA) revealed a large iris stromal cyst in the anterior chamber involving the angle and the pupillary border, with touch of the corneal endothelium and anterior lens capsule. Intraocular pressure was normal. There was no anisometropic refractive error by retinoscopy. Close observation with amblyopia management was recommended as the pupil was only partially occluded by the cyst, and there was a clear red reflex around the cyst. (Source: Journal of AAPOS)
