Ziaedin Yazdian died at home on February 6, 2021, after a long illness. Born in Iran in 1949, he lost his father when he was less than a year old and was raised by his mother. He was graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1979 and continued his education at Texas Children ’s Hospital in the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Department under the supervision of Gunter Von Noorden. Fundus photography with transillumination to visualize retinoblastoma
A 13-month-old girl with bilateral de novo cT3c retinoblastoma was treated with 6 cycles of systemic chemotherapy and enucleation of the left eye because of tumor progression on chemotherapy. The right eye had a peripheral subretinal seed that was treated with cryotherapy at 20 months of age. By 24 months of age, the patient had a progressively increasing cataract (secondary to initial lens touch by detached retina) that made it hard to visualize the peripheral retina clearly.
