Docetaxel, cisplatin and 5‐fluorouracil chemotherapy with concurrent radiation for unresectable advanced urethral carcinoma
Abstract:  The present case report describes two cases of unresectable advanced primary urethral carcinoma. Case 1 was a 61‐year‐old man with squamous cell carcinoma of the urethra that directly invaded into the perineal skin. Case 2 was a 64‐year‐old woman with adenocarcinoma, and solitary lung and lymph node metastases. Both patients received docetaxel/cisplatin/5‐fluorouracil chemotherapy with concurrent radiation. The docetaxel/cisplatin/5‐fluorouracil chemotherapy regimen consisted of docetaxel (75 mg/m2) on day 2, cisplatin (100 mg/m2) on day 2 and 5‐fluorouracil (1000 mg/m2) on days 1 to 5 and ...

Magnetic resonance imaging of female urethral and periurethral disorders.
This article reviews the normal anatomy of the female urethra, magnetic resonance (MR) imaging techniques, and the role of MR imaging in the evaluation of diverse urethral and periurethral diseases. Salient MR imaging findings of common and uncommon cystic urethral lesions (urethral diverticulum, Skene cyst, and vaginal cysts), and masses (urethral carcinoma, leiomyoma, melanoma, fibroepithelial polyp, caruncle, and mucosal prolapse) are presented. The evolving role of dynamic MR in the evaluation of stress urinary incontinence is reviewed. PMID: 24210437 [PubMed - in process] (Source: Radiologic Clinics of North America)

Primary proximal urethral adenocarcinoma: Case report and brief review.
Abstract Primary urethral cancer in females is rare. It has a poor prognosis. The published data on this topic are limited, composed mostly of small case series. This paper presents a case of an advanced adenocarcinoma of the urethra, intestinal type, treated with anterior exenteration. PMID: 23914268 [PubMed] (Source: Canadian Urological Association Journal)

Retrospective analysis of survival outcomes and the role of cisplatin-based chemotherapy in patients with urethral carcinomas referred to medical oncologists
Conclusions: Modern platinum-containing regimens appear to be effective in advanced PCU. Preoperative chemotherapy is associated with prolonged disease-free survival in a subgroup of LN+ cases. (Source: Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations)
