Help with choosing between med schools
Hello all, Would love to hear your opinions about the pros/cons of each school. I have compiled some information about each school on the attached PDF and am leaning towards DMU, but would love to hear some opinions/different perspectives. My biggest attraction to DMU is their affiliated teaching hospital, which is very rare to see in a DO school, solid year long rotations, and they consistently perform very well on COMLEX and above average on USMLE. I hear that graduates tend to do their... Help with choosing between med schools (Source: Student Doctor Network)

OUWB (half ride) vs. Penn State
My ultimate goal is to match in none-family/internal medicine back in CA (nothing crazy like derm or ortho but considering rad or anesthesiology- so still part of ROAD) and eventually work at a teaching hospital in CA. I loved both schools on interview day. OUWB Pros: Half scholarship. Nice suburb of Detroit, MI (direct flight, nice neighborhood) Very responsive and nice admin staff. Beaumont hospital is impressive, and according to them, very... OUWB (half ride) vs. Penn State (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Really hating this right now
I've been in a funk for months. I took a trip abroad for spring break to get away from things and it made me realize that I really, really HATE being in vet school. Part of it is because I am exhausted all of the time, I did very poorly on a few exams because there is no time to eat, sleep, study, and study everything all at the same time, the culture in the teaching hospital is **** with 4th years crying almost daily, and not to mention I'll be $200K in debt when I am done. I am at the... Really hating this right now (Source: Student Doctor Network)

North Shore/LIJ Internal Medicine Program
Anyone familiar with this program? I hear they just recently merged, and will become a teaching hospital affiliated with the new Hofstra School of Medicine. They have 20 categorical + 20 prelim spots per yr. Surprisingly there were almost no FMGs even in the categorical program. Undergoing a lot of curriculum changes too (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Acceptance Dilemma...
Would you rather go to a school that has everything you want, but pay out of state tuition? Or would you go to a school you don't particularly like at all if it had in-state tuition? This is my current dilemma. I am currently trying to choose between out of state 'dream' and in state 'eh'. First, I want to go to the University of Tennessee (out of state) which has everything that I want. An amazing teaching hospital, affordable pet-friendly housing, the people are amazing and nice, only... Acceptance Dilemma... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Older and Age for Residency Selection
I have been shadowing surgeons at a major teaching hospital during my Spring Break where I used to work with them in my former career. I am a first year MD Student, married with family, and older. Two surgeons have told me it will be difficult to be selected as a surgical resident being older (over 40). I wonder how many MD or DO Residents on SDN had their "older" age (over 40) be a factor in matching with a Residency Program be it Surgery or something else. Likewise for a Fellowship... Veterans Hospital IM Sub-I
Due to a change up in my interview schedule, I am doing an IM Sub-I at my Veteran's Hospital instead of General Floors at the main teaching hospital. I was wondering what is unique about this setting. I have seen people comparing IM programs talk about having vs. not having a Veterans Hospital and I want to know what's different about practicing at one of these. I also have MICU/CICU, Ambulatory, ID, and Nephro months too so I'm not unprepared for residency, but I was wondering what unique... Veterans Hospital IM Sub-I (Source: Student Doctor Network)
