Focal lesionectomy as surgical treatment of epilepsy in patients with Sturge-Weber syndrome: a case-based systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the limited literature available, lesionectomy leads to a nonsignificant lower seizure control rate, while postoperative developmental or motor deficits are significantly lower compared with hemispherectomy. Therefore, focal lesionectomy remains a valid alternative to hemispherectomy in SWS with a clearly localized epileptogenic area; however, individual case-based decisions in a specialized multidisciplinary team are of paramount importance.PMID:35535828 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.FOCUS21788 (Source: Neurosurgical Focus)

Early MRI diagnosis of Sturge Weber Syndrome type 1 in infants
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, CP size ratio and thickness were found to be sensitive and specific signs additional to earlier described criteria to support SWS1 diagnosis in neonates and infants which need to be confirmed in other series.PMID:35461064 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejpn.2022.04.002 (Source: European Journal of Paediatric Neurology)

Clinical profile and outcome of early surgery in neonatal-onset glaucoma presenting over a 5-year period
Conclusion Our study shows that NOG does not always have a dismal prognosis. A small but significant proportion could have other underlying conditions than PCG. Timely surgery and rigorous amblyopia therapy resulted in good outcomes in terms of intraocular pressure control and vision in this cohort. (Source: British Journal of Ophthalmology)
