Mayo (AZ) vs. Duke
Very honored that I was accepted off the Duke waitlist today, but now I have a tough decision to make. My initial thought is that Duke would need to be significantly cheaper than Mayo for me to attend because I am really excited by the unique opportunities Mayo offers, but I want to hear from others. I am currently interested in dermatology, though I know this may change throughout medical school. Mayo AZ (Approx $230K total COA) Pros Significant scholarship Selectives... MSU CHM vs. Wayne State
Hey Everyone! I am choosing between Wayne State and MSU CHM! I am interested in matching into a competitive specialty (Dermatology) and wasn't sure which school would be better for me. Both are around the same in terms of tuition (IS) and are MD programs. I am leaning towards MSU CHM because of their new partnership with Henry Ford. Wayne State seems to have trouble with their partnerships so seeing MSU have a new partner seems promising. I've also heard how CHM is more low stress with... Please Help Me Decide BUSM vs UT San Antonio (Long)
Hey guys, I am a California applicant that is currently deciding between either attending BUSM or UT San Antonio. I'm considering going into either orthopedics or dermatology, but to be honest, I'm uncertain and am open to exploring different specialties. UT San Antonio is really behind on releasing financial aid packages and have told me that there is no way that I will be given it before I have to make the decision. I estimate that It will at least cover tuition because my family's... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice for matching into competitive speciality from low tier med school
Hey y'all I'm looking for some advice here. I recently got an A, which I'm super grateful for, but it's not a so-called "top tier" school. I've heard that as a result of Step 1 going P/F, matching into competitive specialties in desirable locations will be much more difficult if you don't go to a top school. While I'm open to other specialties, I'm mostly interested in ENT, dermatology, and ophthalmology, which I know are very competitive haha. I know it's super early, but I really want to... MUSC (full-tuition scholarship) vs. Wake Forest (Full-CoA scholarship)
If this is of any relevance, as of now I’m interested in orthopaedics, maybe dermatology, and psychiatry. Wake Forest Pros Obviously, full-coa scholarship would mean I graduate with virtually zero debt. Facilities are amazing True pass/fail pre-clinicals Can rotate in Charlotte (I love Charlotte) Cons Not a huge fan of Winston-Salem Am looking to purchase a home during med school to build equity (especially with a housing stipend. Summer Research at Home Institution vs Away (SRTP)
Hi everyone! Would love some advice! For context, I am an M1 at a top 50 medical school in the US. I am very interested in cardiology (so internal medicine). But I just recently developed an interest in dermatology too. I have been trying to decide what would be best for my upcoming summer so would love some advice! I was accepted to the Vanderbilt Summer Research Training Program in Kidney Disease to do hypertension research for the summer. I'm not sure how selective this experience is but... Epidural Ligament Engagement Feel
At my institution we do epidurals w/ LOR to air in plastic syringes which are incredibly sensitive (impossible to inject air into skin/subQ/muscle). So I insert my touhy to 3 cm unless the patient is thin, attach my syringe, and start testing for LOR. Very easy and safe but slow. An attending encouraged me to try using a glass syringe with saline and I quickly realized it is not nearly as sensitive. It is very easy to inject into subQ or muscle and so I have to engage ligament before I can... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chances of matching PM & R after reapplying from another specialty
I didn’t match into dermatology but after shadowing a PM&R doctor I realized I’d be just as happy doing this and don’t want to go through the heartbreak of not matching again. However, I worry that my application will be looked over due to the amount of derm research I have (7 pubs with more on the way) and derm specific experiences. I have decent stats (step 1: 256 step 2: 249 level 1 629 level 2: 597) and will hopefully be able to get some LOR during my TY. Can anyone shed some light on my... Picking med school: Cornell vs. USC for Dermatology
Hi all. I'm deciding between two med schools, and know I'm very interested in dermatology (my research is in derm, spent a couple years working in a derm clinic, etc). From the resident/physician perspective, which school would give me better opportunities (prestige-wise specifically for derm, better mentors, etc) - Weill Cornell or USC Keck? I'm thinking Weill Cornell due its association with MSK as well, but not sure if residency programs care. Any advice would be appreciated! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Weill Cornell vs USC Keck
Hi everyone! Having a tough time deciding. Background: I am from LA. I am interested in Dermatology or ENT (both fairly competitive I hear). I'm not 100% certain, but at the moment I think it would be nice to do residency/or long-run settle down in California somewhere (Bay Area or Los Angeles). Cornell Pros: Cornell has a better reputation + research ability at Memorial Sloan Kettering/mentors at MSK would make me stand out? This may help me be more competitive to match into Derm/ENT...
