The safety of telemedicine clinics as an alternative to in-person preoperative assessment for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy in patients with benign gallbladder disease: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Our series showed that it is safe and feasible to assess and counsel patients for laparoscopic cholecystectomy remotely with a minimal cancellation rate on the day of operation. Further work is needed to understand the effect of remote consultations on patient satisfaction, its environmental impact, and possible benefits to healthcare economics to support its routine use in general surgery.PMID:37644474 | PMC:PMC10466851 | DOI:10.1186/s13037-023-00368-7

The safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic off-clamp tumor evacuation vs traditional nephron-sparing surgery for large ( & gt;4  cm) sporadic renal angiomyolipomas
CONCLUSION: It seems that transperitoneal laparoscopic off-clamp tumor evacuation is a feasible and safe option for the treatment of RAML, with the added benefit of preserving renal function to a greater extent than the traditional methods.PMID:37640651 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.08.087

Single-Incision Laparoscopic Percutaneous Extraperitoneal Surgery for the Treatment of Incarcerated Indirect Inguinal Hernia in Children
Conclusions: Single-incision percutaneous extraperitoneal laparoscopic surgery for the treatment of incarcerated indirect inguinal hernia in children appears to be safe and feasible. Our experience shows that it is recommended to perform laparoscopic surgery for incarcerated indirect inguinal hernia in children.PMID:37639693 | DOI:10.1089/lap.2023.0230

Idiopathic omental hemorrhage: a case report and review of the literature
ConclusionPresence of positive focused assessment with sonography in trauma, abdominal pain, imaging evidence of fluid accumulation, and a reduction in hemoglobin levels collectively indicate the likelihood of arteriovenous malformation occurrence. The treatment options include surgical intervention and transcatheter arterial embolization. Surgical intervention is recommended for subjects with hemodynamic instability, persistent hypotension and those whose diagnosis is unconfirmed.

When Critical View of Safety Fails: A Practical Perspective on Difficult Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
Medicina (Kaunas). 2023 Aug 19;59(8):1491. doi: 10.3390/medicina59081491.ABSTRACTThe incidence of common bile duct injuries following laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) remains three times higher than that following open surgery despite numerous attempts to decrease intraoperative incidents by employing better training, superior surgical instruments, imaging techniques, or strategic concepts. This paper is a narrative review which discusses from a contextual point of view the need to standardise the surgical approach in difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomies, the main strategic operative concepts and techniques, complemen...
