Differential expression of "A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 10" in hepatocellular carcinoma and the noncancerous hepatic tissues: Contribution to HCV-promoted hepatocarcinogenesis
CONCLUSIONS: ADAM10 is frequently expressed in HCCs compared with noncancerous hepatic tissues suggesting its role in hepatocarcinogenesis, especially in association with HCV. It has no association with HCC progression or survival. Further studies should be sought to investigate its validity as a therapeutic target.PMID:37530332 | DOI:10.4103/ijpm.ijpm_608_21

Rare case report: a 26-year-old man with Eales' disease
Conclusion: Despite the aggressive treatment with oral steroids, immunosuppressants, and anti-VEGF injections, there were many exacerbations, and remission was not achieved. As a result, aggressive neovascular glaucoma developed, which led to total blindness in the left eye and legal blindness in the right eye. Abbreviations: HLA = human leukocyte antigens, Anti-VEGF = vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors, BCVA = best corrected visual acuity, FA = fundus angiography, HBsAg = hepatitis B surface antigen, Anti-HCV = hepatitis C antibodies, TPHA = Treponema Pallidum hemagglutination assay, PCR = polymerase chain reac...

Proteomics reveals a global phenotypic shift of NK cells in HCV patients treated with direct-acting antivirals
In conclusion, this study reveals long-term effects on the CD56+ NK cell compartment in convalescent HCV patients one year after therapy, with limited abundance of vesicle transport complexes and surface receptors, associated with a responsive NK cell phenotype. Discovery of a fused bicyclic derivative of 4-hydroxypyrrolidine and imidazolidinone as a new anti-HCV agent
Virology. 2023 Jul 20;586:91-104. doi: 10.1016/j.virol.2023.07.012. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHepatitis C virus (HCV) infection causes severe liver diseases and remains a major global public health concern. Current direct-acting antiviral (DAA)-based therapies that target viral proteins involving HCV genome replication are effective, however a minority of patients still fail to cure HCV, rendering a window to develop additional antivirals particularly targeting host functions involving in HCV infection. Here, we utilized the HCV infection cell culture system (HCVcc) to screen in-house compounds bearing host-interacting...

Insights from a national survey in 2021 and from modelling on progress towards hepatitis C virus elimination in the country of Georgia since 2015
ConclusionResults support the programme's high effectiveness. At current treatment rate (406/month), 90% reductions in prevalence and incidence in Georgia are achievable by 2030.PMID:37498534 | PMC:PMC10375834 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2023.28.30.2200952
