Antioxidants and Calcium Modulators Preclude in Vitro Hepatitis B Virus-Induced Mitochondrial Damage
CONCLUSIONS: Current study indicates that the mitochondrial fragmentation induced by hepatitis B virus infection can be reduced after antioxidant treatment pointing toward exploring better drug targets for the prevention of hepatitis B virus-induced mitochondrial frag- mentation and associated liver damage.PMID:37565795 | DOI:10.5152/tjg.2023.21290

Direct and crowding-out effects of a Hepatitis B vaccination campaign
Econ Hum Biol. 2023 Jul 23;51:101279. doi: 10.1016/j.ehb.2023.101279. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe evaluate the direct and spillover causal effects of a Hepatitis B (HB) vaccination campaign in French schools on the vaccination adherence of the targeted pupils. Using a regression discontinuity design, we show that this campaign created an exogenous shock on vaccination behavior, increasing the HB vaccination rate for children aged 11 and above. At the same time, we show a drop in the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination rate of the targeted pupils and an increase in the parental belief that measles is a benign...

Use, variability, and justification of eligibility criteria for phase II and III clinical trials in acute leukemia
Haematologica. 2023 Aug 10. doi: 10.3324/haematol.2023.283723. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTClinical trial eligibility criteria can unfairly exclude patients or unnecessarily expose them to known risks if criteria are not concordant with drug safety. There are few data evaluating the extent to which acute leukemia eligibility criteria are justified. We analyzed criteria and drug safety data for front-line phase II and/or III acute leukemia trials with start dates 1/1/2010-12/31/2019 registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. Multivariable analyses assessed concordance between criteria use and safety data (presence of criteria with...

Mapping the timeliness of routine childhood vaccination in The Gambia: A spatial modelling study
CONCLUSIONS: Our approach provides decision-makers with a valuable tool to better understand local patterns of untimely childhood vaccination and identify districts where strengthening vaccine delivery systems could have the greatest impact.PMID:37563051 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.08.004

Laparoscopic Anatomical Liver Resection of Segment VIII by Using ICG Fluorescence Positive Staining Under the Guidance of Laparoscopic Ultrasonography
CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic anatomical liver resection of S8 has been demonstrated to be feasible. Under the guidance of laparoscopic ultrasonography, ICG positive staining was proven to be optimal for Anatomical segmentectomy.PMID:37556011 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-13920-7
